Coffee Middle heads into Christmas Break with split of Stewarts Creek

The Middle School Lady Raiders fought hard to stay perfect while the Red Raiders fell to the Redhawks on Monday night at Stewarts Creek.
While the Lady Raiders have had a fantastic season so far, rolling through the regular season with little to no problems, they were tested in a big way in Smyrna tonight.
In the first quarter, the Lady Raiders fell behind by as much as 10 points to the Lady Redhawks, which has been a pretty rare occurrence this season.
However, the Lady Raiders fought back and went on to win the game, 44-34.
“That was a gutsy performance by our girls,” said Coach David Vinson. “I’m proud of the whole team’s effort tonight.”
Scoring for the Lady Raiders were Addalyn Clark with 15 points, Hayleigh Harris with 11 points, Jenslee Nogodula with 10 points, Kinsley Pruitt with four points, Avery Pruitt with three points and Isabelle Saner with one point.
The Coffee Middle Lady Raiders are now 17-0.
In the meantime, the Red Raiders couldn’t keep pace with the Redhawks.
Coffee fell behind quickly in the first quarter as the Redhawks outscored the Red Raiders 16-6.
The Red Raiders responded in the second, outscoring Stewarts Creek 12-7, but the Redhawks remained in front at halftime, 23-18.
Scoring was aplenty in the third quarter, with the Redhawks outscoring Coffee 15-12 to lead 38-29 heading into the fourth, where the Redhawks finished the game with a 49-35 win.
Scoring for the Red Raiders were Jerrad Morgan with nine points, Landyn Stiefel with eight points, Jaxon Pruitt with seven points, Rylan Abellana with six points, Jack Oliver with four points and Warren Simmons with one point.
The Coffee Middle Red Raiders now fall to 6-11 on the season.
Coffee County Middle School’s Basketball teams will now go on Christmas Break and return on Thursday, Jan. 4 for their final home game of the regular season against South Middle School.
