Westwood splits Cascade on Homecoming Night

On Thursday night, the Westwood Rockets won their 12th straight game while the Lady Rockets lost a tough one to Cascade.

The Westwood Rockets continued their dominant season with win over the Cascade Champions.

Westwood raced out to a 13-6 lead after the first quarter, then outscored the Champions 11-6 in the second quarter to double up Cascade at the half, 24-12.

The Rockets took complete control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring Cascade 19-7 to lead 43-19 heading into the fourth before winning the game, 46-28.

Scoring for the Rockets were Mason Troxler with 13 points, Brady Christian with 10 points, Caleb Hill with eight points, Zeke Jones with seven points , Isaiah Buchanan with six points and Kaden Ingle with two points.

The Rockets improve to 16-2 on the season.

Between games, members of the Winterfest Homecoming Court were recognized with Mason Troxler being crowned Winterfest King and Allison Russ being crowned Winterfest Queen.

After the ceremonies, the Lady Rockets were pitted against the Lady Champions.

The game started out rough for the Lady Rockets, who fell behind 20-3 after the first quarter.

Westwood straightened things out in the second, but still trailed 29-13 at the half.

However, the Lady Champions poured it on the third quarter, outscoring Westwood 11-2 in the third quarter before holding on for the win, 40-22.

Scoring for the Lady Rockets were Maci Jackson with six points, Zallona Dillard with five points, Amelia Johnson and Mia Alijah with four points each, Kylie Evans with two points and Jerzee Ferrell with one point.

The Westwood Basketball Teams will be back in action on Monday, Dec. 4 for Eight Grade Night against Eagleville.
