Lady Raiders suffer first loss of the season

On Saturday, the Coffee Central Lady Raiders lost their first game of the season to the Bradley Central Bearettes in the Bearette Thanksgiving Classic.

For their second game in two days, the Lady Raiders would play at Bradley Central High School, but this time they would play the hometown Bearettes.

The game would be a huge test for the Lady Raiders, as both teams are considered top teams in the state.

The Bearettes would lead after the first quarter, but not by much as the Lady Raiders would trail, 12-10.

The Lady Raiders would outscore Bradley 9-8 in the second to trail by just one point at halftime, 20-19.

The battle between the two teams would continue in the third, where the Bearettes would lead, 36-33 heading into the final quarter.

Coffee County would take the lead for a brief moment in the third, 39-38, but the Bearettes would claw their way back to the lead before taking control and winning the game, 55-46.

Scoring for the Lady Raiders were Natalie Barnes with 19 points, Jules Ferrell with 11 points, Ava McIntosh with six and Channah Gannon and Olivia Vinson each had five.

The Lady Raiders fall to 6-1 with the loss and they will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 28 when they play host to Blackman.
