Tabor wins country vocalist of the year

Local artist and Old Timers Day parade grand marshal Macy Tabor won the Female Country Vocalist of the Year Award at the 2023 Josie Music Awards for Independent Artist that was held on Sunday, October 22 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.

The Josie Music Awards is the largest award show for Independent Artist in the world. The three day event kicked off on Friday, Oct. 20 with the JMA Fest that was held at the Nashville Zoo.

On Saturday, Oct. 21, the JMA Pre-Party Gala was held at the Grand Ole Opry House inside of Studio A. Out of thousands of entries, Tabor was chosen to be one of the five acts to perform at the Gala.

She was accompanied by drummer Andrew Nesbitt, bass player Zach Lamb, and lead guitarist Nate Gregory.

There were over 59,000 submissions for the Josie Music Awards this year with only 2.5% of all submissions receiving an actual nomination.

Tabor received a total of seven nominations this year which including three nominations for the Songwriter’s Achievement Award for three of her original songs, the Adult Female Country Artist of the Year, the Fan’s Choice Award, Adult Female Entertainer of the Year, and for the award she brought home, the Adult Female Country Vocalist of the Year Award.

Tabor accepted the award inside of the circle on the Grand Ole Opry House stage.
