Dot Foods earns “Great Place To Work” certification

Dot Foods, North America’s largest food industry redistributor, has received its certification as a “Great Place to Work” for the third consecutive year.
Since 2021, Dot Foods has partnered with Great Place To Work to conduct its annual employee survey and assess employee experience.
Anthony Soto, GM of Dot Foods Manchester which is set to have its grand opening in early 2024, said the recognition is a testament to the workplace culture at Dot Foods.
“What I see and what I hear from employees is that it is that family feel,” Soto said. “The feeling that when you come to work you are not only an important part of the operation, but you also have the authority to share openly and encourage to share openly anything from culture impact to business needs to challenging the status quo and really a culture of driving change.”
Soto said partnering with Great Place To Work has allowed the company to set up a threshold for improvement and a tool that tells them what might be effective, ineffective or need to be done differently.
The 60-question survey is designed to measure five key areas of workplace culture: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie. Using these surveys and a proprietary “Trust Index”, Great Place To Work scores companies on the quality of their employee experience to determine if it is a great place to work. A company must score at least 68% to be certified. In 2023, Dot Foods scored 74%.
“Dot’s culture is centered around employee feedback, continuous improvement, and innovation, so the annual employee survey is always an important time of the year for us,” Dot Foods CEO Dick Tracy said in a statement. “The roots of our culture started with Mom and Dad when they founded the company in 1960. Dad always said that business success starts with the employee—if you have a happy employee, they’ll treat your business partners well. If your business partners are treated well, they’ll keep coming back for more. Since then, we have continued to prioritize culture and heavily rely on employee feedback to foster a positive employee experience. We are proud of the culture we have built here at Dot.”
Soto said Dot Foods is currently hiring for its Manchester facility located at 600 Industrial Parkway, scheduled for a grand opening in March 2024.
“We have multiple positions open,” he said. “Most of the positions that are open right now are our salary roles.”
Soto said he currently has eight salaried roles open, ranging from operations report manager, operations manager trainee, in-house driver trainer, quality manager, and warehouse shift managers. In addition to drivers, the company is also looking to hire an hourly refrigeration technician.
The bulk of Dot Foods hourly positions will be posted Oct. 16, he said. These positions will range from warehouse order selector, to office clerks, inventory and maintenance technicians.
