Man charged with attempted first degree murder

A Lakewood Park man is charged with attempted first degree murder following a shooting Saturday, Oct. 21 at Lakewood Park involving an alleged dispute over a dog.

Larry Gene Hurley, 62, is being held with no bond on an attempted firs-degree murder charge, and was scheduled to appear in court Oct. 24.

According to Coffee County Sheriff Investigator Brandon Gullet, deputies were dispatched Saturday to 46 General Bragg Drive for a reported shooting.

Officers arrived to find Kyle Adam Albert Gibson in the driver’s seat of an SUV. The man had been shot.

Investigators allege that a brief argument over Gibson playing with Hurley’s (unnamed) girlfriend’s dog.

According to the Coffee County warrant, Gibson was shot in the torso with a shotgun.
