Victim named in Ambassador Inn shooting

Hillsboro man Gary Edward Teague, 44, was killed Friday, Sept. 29 at the Ambassador Inn, after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, according to a statement issued by the District Attorney’s office. 

According to 14th Judicial District Attorney General Craig Northcott’s statement released Monday, Teague succumbed to the wounds very shortly thereafter. 

Accused of first degree murder is Tauris Donte Maymi, 30, from Manchester. He is being held without bond. 

Northcott states that Manchester Police responded immediately on Friday to the scene and had the area surrounded within minutes of the shooting. Based on witness descriptions a search was initiated, and the suspect was apprehended within the hour. 

The release says that Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, Tullahoma Police, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Coffee County District Attorney’s Office aided in the investigation.       

Maymi is set for an initial appearance in Coffee County General Sessions Court on Oct. 3.
