Howard E. Trail, age 98, of the Gnat Hill Community, passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at McArthur Manor in Manchester. Mr. Trail was born Jan. 10, 1925, in Coffee County, to the late Herman B. and Pearl Trail. He was a farmer and carpenter, and he also worked at Manchester Building Supply, Co-op, Carrier Corp., and General Electric. He was a member of the Goosepond Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Nora Lee Duke Trail; nine brothers and sisters; Edna Davis, Hazel Davis, Russell Trail, Hershel Trail, Ruth Sain, Alta Crosslin, Fred Trail, Virgil Trail, and Kenneth Trail. He is survived by one sister, Mary Lee Messick of the Gnat Hill Community; three sons, Randall Trail of Albany, GA, Joel (Glenda) Trail of the Noah Community, and Steve (Lisa) Trail of the Gnat Hill Community; three grandchildren, Shawn (Carla) Trail of Manchester, Tiffany (Kraig) Feathers of Murfreesboro, and Brandon Trail and Brittany Anderson of Athens, GA; eight great grandchildren, Brayden, Cayden, Dylen, Carter, Emery, and William Trail, and Taylor and Rylan Feathers; several extended family members and a host of friends.
