Coffee County’s Jules Ferrell commits to MTSU

Coffee County’s Jules Ferrell still has another year of high school basketball, but she will not be going too far away to play at the college level.
The rising senior, who will be returning to the Lady Raider lineup this season, announced her commitment to Middle Tennessee State University last Wednesday, keeping her in the area for the foreseeable future.
Ferrell played her freshman and sophomore seasons at Coffee County, where she was a part of back-to-back TSSAA State Tournament teams. As a sophomore, Ferrell was named to both the Class 4A District 9 regular-season all-district team and the all-district tournament team. She was also selected for the Class 4A Region 5 All-Region team.
Taking on Bradley Central in the 2024-25 state tournament quarterfi nals, Ferrell posted a team-high 13 points on the way to a 53-44 loss.
Ferrell went on to transfer to Middle Tennessee Christian in Murfreesboro ahead of her junior season, following her mother Shala’s hiring as the Lady Cougars’ new head coach.
Middle Tennessee Christian finished the 2025-26 season with a 25-6 overall record. This included a 15-3 record in the Division II-A Middle District 3 standings to secure second place.
During her junior season, Ferrell averaged 21 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.2 steals per game.
Ferrell’s accolades continued to pour in during her junior campaign. This included selection on The Tennessee Sports Writer’s Association’s Division II-A All-State Team and the Basketball Coaches of Tennessee D II-A All-State Team. She was also named a Division II-A Miss Basketball finalist.
After a year at Middle Tennessee Christian, Ferrell will be returning to Coffee County for her senior year during the 202627 season.
Her return to the Lady Raiders was highlighted during the team’s summer camp this past week. Ferrell helped Coffee County go 4-0 across the twoday camp, with wins over Grundy County, Franklin County, Moore County and Tullahoma.
In addition to MTSU, Ferrell also had offers from other NCAA Division I schools including Samford, Southern Indiana, and Tennessee Tech.
