The Coffee County Middle School football team made the trip down to Tullahoma to take part in the annual Coffee Cup against the Wildcats Tuesday night.

The Red Raiders were unable to reach the end zone over the course of the evening and ultimately returned home with a 32-0 loss. The result followed a 38-6 home loss to Jasper in Coffee County’s week 1 matchup to drop the Red Raiders to 0-2 on the season.

After closing out the first quarter with a one-yard punch into the end zone, Tullahoma added to its lead with a 9-yard touchdown run with 4:05 left in the second quarter. The Wildcats came away with successful 2-point conversions on both scoring opportunities to put Coffee County in an early 16-0 hole.

Tullahoma added to its lead once more before the first half’s conclusion, this time on a 60-yard touchdown run on the first play of the drive. The 2-point conversion was once again successful, ultimately sending the Red Raiders into halftime trailing 24-0.

Coffee County fell further behind as the second half got under way, with Tullahoma opening it up on a 65-yard touchdown pass on the second play of the possession. The Wildcats drove in another 2-point conversion on the ensuing play to build a 32-point lead over the Red Raiders with 7:28 left in the third quarter.

Tullahoma did not reach the end zone again before the game’s conclusion, bringing it to what would be its final score.

Coffee County will look to pick up its first win of the season when it returns home to host Lewisburg next Tuesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
