PREP ROUNDUP: CHS boys’ golf takes first at Golden Classic

The Coffee County golf team was back in action to host the Golden Classic at WillowBrook Golf Club Wednesday.

In an event that featured a field of 14 teams, the Red Raider boys’ B team took the top spot with a team score of 306. The Coffee County boys’ A team added a fourth place finish for the program with a score of 313.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Raiders finished in sixth place out of nine teams with a score of 186.

The Coffee County B team was led by Riley Keele, who finished the day with a 75. Cole Williams followed with a 76 to come in just ahead of Jayden Melton with a 77. Dax Carney rounded out the team’s top four scores with a 78.

On the A team, Levi Rossman shot a 72 to lead the way. Up next was Jaxon Phillips with a 78. Rylan Melson added an 81, with Carter Bell following with an 82.

The Lady Raiders were led by Karaline Matthews with an 88. Karsyn Riddle carded a 98.

MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL

Westwood 2, South Franklin 0

The Lady Rockets picked up their third straight victory and second straight on the road Wednesday, winning by set scores of 25-23 and 26-24 to hold on for the sweep.

Westwood (8-3) travels to Flintville for a tri-match Monday. The Lady Rockets will open the evening against South Lincoln at 6 p.m. and then take on Flintville at 7 p.m.

MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL

Coffee County 12, Lewisburg 0

The Red Raiders returned home to Carden-Jarrell Field looking for their first win of the season Tuesday night. Coffee County ultimately did not give up any points on the way to the shutout victory.

Coffee County (1-2) returns to the road to take on Harris at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday.
