M anchester Fire and Rescue responded to a structural fire Monday, Feb. 23 at 301 Rose St. after reports of an attic fire with all occupants out of the home.

Arriving on the scene, crews found fire coming out of the roof, according to a release by Fire Chief George Chambers.

“Crews entered the home with an attack line and opened up a space in the ceiling and made a rapid knock down of the fire, once the primary fire was extinguished crews continued checking the attic to ensure the fire was totally extinguished,” Chambers said.

Duck River Electric was contacted to secure the power to the home and the Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance to the family. Manchester Police Department and Coffee County EMS provided on scene assistance to fire crews.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
