Fisherman discovers body on Normandy Lake

G ame wardens with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) responded Sunday afternoon, March 8, at approximately 3:30 p.m., to a report of a possible missing boater on Normandy Lake in Coffee County Tennessee.
Marvin Parker, a 66-year-old man from Shelbyville, went out on Normandy Lake on Friday, March 6, to fish and place fish attractors in the water. Family and friends had not heard from him since that day.
On Sunday, a family member spotted Parker’s unoccupied vessel along the shoreline near Normandy Dam and contacted 911 to report him missing. While first responders were on the lake investigating, a fisherman in a nearby creek reported discovering a body. Responders recovered the individual and positively identified him as Marvin Parker.
Parker was not wearing a personal flotation device (PFD) at the time of the incident.
This is the second boating-related fatality on Tennessee waterways for 2026, and the incident remains under investigation.
