Westwood falls to Eagleville, Winchester Christian
Westwood baseball dropped its fourth straight game in a road loss to Eagleville Thursday.
Westwood finished with five hits, including one each for Brock Christian, Casen Francisco, Jackson Vernon, Will Levengood and Max Stewart. Francisco had the team’s only RBI.
CJ Chavis Jr. pitched the first three innings, coming off with four strikeouts, four hits, seven runs and six walks. Vernon followed for the remaining three innings, adding one strikeout, one hit and two walks through the game’s remainder.
The loss put Westwood at 7-6 on the season.
TUESDAY, MARCH 24 RESULTS Middle School Baseball
Winchester Christian Academy 8, Westwood 5
The Rockets were unable to avenge Monday’s road loss to Winchester Christian Academy in their home rematch last Tuesday.
Westwood posted 11 hits over the course of the game, with Owen Holder taking the top spot with three. Chavis Jr. and Brock Christian followed with two each. Francisco, Levengood, Luke Christian and Griffyn Woods each had one hit. The team had five RBI, with one each for Francisco, Chavis Jr., Woods, Levengood and Brock Christian.
Brock Christian got it started on the mound, striking out five and holding Winchester Christian Academy to one hit, two runs and six walks until coming off in the top of the fourth inning. Levengood took his place, adding one strikeout, three hits, six runs and six walks until he was replaced in the top of the seventh inning. Woods went on to close it out, earning a strikeout to wrap up the inning.
MONDAY, MARCH 23 RESULTS Middle School Baseball
Winchester Christian Academy 7, Westwood 3
The Rockets suffered their second straight road loss last Monday.
The team finished the game with seven hits, including one each for Woods, Chavis Jr., Francisco, Levengood, Brady Christian, Luke Christian and Logan McKenzie.
Westwood also had three RBI, with one each for Chavis Jr., McKenzie and Levengood.
Luke Christian was the Rockets’ starting pitcher, finishing with four strikeouts, two hits, one run and three walks until coming off in the bottom of the sixth inning. Stewart took his place and added one strikeout, two hits, six runs and four walks through the inning’s remainder.
SATURDAY, MARCH 21 RESULTS Middle School Baseball
Rockvale 10, Coffee County 4
The Red Raiders fell behind early on the way to a home loss last Saturday.
Coffee County finished with five hits, led by Mason Floyd with two. Braxton Swack, Aiden McNeese and Cooper Melton all had one hit each.
Tripp Trussler had two of the team’s three RBI, with Floyd adding the last one.
Liam Neice got it started on the mound, coming off after three innings with four strikeouts, two hits, six runs and three walks. Bentley Ater took his place, adding one strikeout, six hits, four runs and four walks through the game’s remainder.
The loss dropped Coffee County to 4-3 on the season.
Cascade 4, Westwood 2
The Rockets fell behind late in a close road loss last Saturday.
Chavis Jr. and Brock Christian each had one hit for a team total of two. Brock Christian also had both of Westwood’s two RBI.
Chavis Jr. was the Rockets’ starting pitcher, striking out nine and holding Cascade to two runs and three walks until getting pulled in the bottom of the fifth inning. Up next was Brock Christian, who struck out nine and added two runs and five walks until coming off in the bottom of the sixth. Levengood followed, striking out one more batter through the game’s remainder.
FRIDAY, MARCH 20 RESULTS Middle School Softball
Coffee County 13, Harris 1
The Lady Raiders took care of business in three innings on the way to a home victory last Friday.
Coffee County finished with eight hits and six RBI.
Siri Cruz went the distance in the circle, striking out three and holding Harris to one hit and one run across all three innings.
The win put Coffee County at 8-2 on the season.

The Red Raiders came up just short in a close home loss last Friday.
Coffee County posted five hits over the course of the game, led by Ater with two. Floyd, Melton and Neice had one hit each. Trussler had the team’s only RBI.
Floyd started things off on the mound, finishing with seven strikeouts, two hits, two runs and six walks through the first four innings. Kasen Shelton closed it out from there, adding one strikeout, three hits, one run and one walk through the game’s remainder.
