Aidan Lindsay signs with Cumberland for wrestling

A idan Lindsay may be heading off to his freshman year of college later this year, but he will not be leaving wrestling behind when does.
Lindsay made his wrestling plans official Monday afternoon, signing his national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Cumberland University in Lebanon. The signing was held in the Coffee County Central High School library with family, friends, coaches and teammates present. “Honestly I feel great about it, also I love the idea that I can go to college and have some of it paid for,” Lindsay said. “Wrestling in the college level is definitely gonna be difficult, but I’m gonna enjoy the time I have there.”
Lindsay, who wrapped up his Red Raider career by wrestling in the 132-pound weight class at the TSSAA state championships in February, will be joining a Phoenix program that competes in the NAIA’s Mid-South Conference. Led by head coach James Hicks, Cumberland’s roster also includes Coffee County wrestling alumni Jacob Barlow. This familiarity, among other factors, played a part in Lindsay’s decision to commit to the Phoenix.
“I have some people from this high school and other high schools I had known,” Lindsay said. “Also the campus isn’t too big, which I like.”
Off the mat, Lindsay plans to pursue a degree in computer science, with the goal of a career in coding.
He added that he was thankful for his family and coaches for helping him reach this point.
“I want to thank all my coaches, my dad, my mom, my whole family,” Lindsay said. “I’ve really loved the time I had with them, also I’m really thankful for my coaches because without them I would not have made it as far as I could’ve.”
