On Friday, Aug. 18, the Red Raiders opened their season visiting Franklin County. Coffee County won over Franklin Co. 10-7.
After each team got a chance with the ball, Coffee came just yards away from a touchdown when an incomplete pass declined their chances. Instead of risking missing a touchdown, Coffee opted for a Field Goal kicked by Manny Gonzales.
Neither team managed to impact the scoreboard until after halftime. In the third, Coffee managed a touchdown with a solid PAT upping the score 10-0.
With 5:27 left in the game, Franklin County scored for the first time. But Coffee defense prohibited any other possible points.
Coffee County ultimately won over Franklin County 10-7 in their first game of the season. For the full story, check the newest edition of The Manchester Times.
