Mrs. Ruth Joy Jernigan, age 92, of Manchester, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Jernigan was born Dec. 15, 1930, in Cannon County, Tennessee, to the late Mr. Morgan P. Caffy and Mrs. Fannie B. Caffy (Carter). Ruth has been a resident of Manchester since 1999. She was a member if Main Street Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Lee R. Jernigan and her brother, Frank Caffy. She is survived by her son, Ricky Jernigan (Faye); grandchildren, Morgan B. Jernigan (Crystal) and Terri Zapotocky (Mike); great grandchildren, Lane Jernigan, Kinsley Perry (Brian), Mercedes Jernigan, Amira Jernigan, Armani Jernigan, Brendon Jernigan, Ava Hopper, and Keyanna Rice; and niece, Martha Hopkins. Visitation for Mrs. Jernigan was held at Coffee County Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. A graveside service took place the following day on Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro.
