It was homecoming week in Coffee County. Following Westwood and CCMS, the high school celebrated last Friday night, Sept. 22.

The Raiders celebrated their homecoming, but not a win Friday night. Coffee fell to perennial powerhouse Riverdale 49-0.

Riverdale scored in the first drive of the game with 9:33 left on the clock before handing the ball to Coffee. The Raiders failed to gain traction on offense; but when Riverdale took over again, they scored again near the end of the first quarter 14-0.

It appeared the quarter was going to finish 14-0 in favor of the Warriors from Riverdale.

At the end of the first, a replay allowed a third touchdown as the first quarter came to a close. The first quarter ended 21-0. By halftime, Riverdale doubled their score to 42-0.

During halftime, CCCHS honored student government and the Homecoming Court. Allie Sullivan and Caden Davis were crowned Homecoming King and Queen while Bethany Lambert was named Football Queen.

A continuous clock ran through the second half. Riverdale only scored once more pushing the win to be 49-0, ending the game.

Coffee County’s offense never saw daylight finishing with just 67 total yards.

Next week, the Raider remain home Friday, Sept. 29 as they host a Rockvale team that has faced similar woes against mutual opponents as they lost to Riverdale 41-6 on Sept. 15 as well as Tullahoma 26-20 on Sept. 1.
