The World Tournament at Forrest Middle School was a short one for the Westwood Lady Rockets, as they lost to the Cascade Champions.

Westwood fell behind early, as the Champions took a 7-2 lead in the first quarter. The only bucket in the quarter for the Lady Rockets came from Maci Jackson.

The second quarter was a tight, defensive battle, as a measly six points combined between the two teams were scored, making the score 11-4 at half time. Shaylee Meadows scored the only Lady Rocket basket in the second frame.

The Cascade Champions decided to open it up in the third quarter, scoring 17 points while Westwood could only manage one more field goal from Zallona Dillard, making it 28-6 at the end of the third quarter, a score more befitting of a football game.

The Lady Rockets scored another five points in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t come back to beat the Champions, who won 36-11 on the strength of Lexi Comstock’s 13 points, and another nine from Kaemey Young.

Scoring for the Lady Rockets was Zallona Dillard with five points, and two points each from Maci Jackson, Shaylee Meadows and Addi Teal.

The Lady Rockets played Coffee Middle at CCCHS Monday evening after the press deadline.  Coverage of the game can be found on manchestertimes.com.  Westwood’s girls return home to play the Forrest Rockets on Thursday, October 26th, and the Liberty Patriots on Monday, October 30th.
