The Coffee Middle Lady Raiders improve to 6-0, while the Red Raiders fall to 2-4.

On Tuesday night, The Lady Raiders had yet another tough battle on their hands, but once again they proved to be relentless.

Coffee found themselves down early to Stewarts Creek as the Lady Falcons led 8-6 after the first quarter.

The battle continued in the second, and the Lady Raiders forged ahead to lead 18-15 at the half.

The Lady Raiders then took the battle for themselves, and outscored the Lady Falcons 11-4 in the third to go up 29-19 heading into the fourth where they would pad their lead to win 38-24 for their second win in as many nights.

“I think we were a little fatigued to start, but once again we had a great second half,” said Coach David Vinson. “I was proud of our girls.”

Scoring for the Lady Raiders were Addalyn Clark with 17 points, Hayleigh Harris with 12 points, Jenslee Nogodula with seven and Kinsley Pruitt with two.

On the boys side, the Red Raiders were again pitted in a tight, three quarter battle, but couldn’t close the deal.

The Falcons would lead 8-5 after the first quarter, but Coffee came back fighting in the second, as the Red Raiders trailed 22-21 at the half.

The battle raged through the third quarter with both student sections chirping at each other and Coffee still trailed by a point, 33-32 heading into the fourth.

For the second night in a row, the Red Raiders ended a tight, three quarter battle with a dormant fourth quarter and Stewarts Creek ran away with it, 47-34.

“We’ve had some problems with fatigue,” said Coach Jonathan Oliver. “We’ve got at least three guys that, for the most part, we keep on the floor as long as possible. It’s hard to take them out when they’re playing hard.”

Scoring for the Red Raiders in this one were Jaxon Pruitt with 11 points, Landyn Stiefel and Jerrad Morgan each had seven points, Ethan Arnold had five and Warren Simmons had four.

The JV teams for Coffee both scored wins on the night as well.

The next matchup for Coffee Middle Basketball will be at South Middle School on Thursday, Nov.9.
