Lady Raiders win fifth in a row, Red Raiders fall to 2-2

The Lady Raiders kept momentum going after a stellar Saturday with a win on Tuesday, while the Red Raiders dropped one to Oakland.

After winning three games in Saturday’s Hall of Fame play day, the Coffee Central Lady Raiders won again in dominant fashion.

The Lady Raiders raced out to a 19-5 lead after the first quarter of play, then outscored Oakland 12-6 in the second for a 31-11 half time lead.

Coffee stayed in control, outscoring the Lady Patriots 16-9 in the third for a 47-20 lead heading into the fourth, before winning the game 61-26.

The win is the Lady Raiders fifth consecutive win in seven days and their fifth consecutive win at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium.

Scoring for the Lady Raiders were Natalie Barnes with 17 points, Olivia Vinson with 16 points, Channah Gannon with 11 points, Jules Ferrell with 10 points, Nakayjah Holman with four, Ella Arnold with two and Ava Mcintosh with one.

Meanwhile, the Red Raiders dug a hole early and despite a late comeback attempt, couldn’t overcome the Oakland Patriots.

The visitors from Murfreesboro stormed out to a 24-7 first quarter lead.

In the second quarter, the Red Raiders managed to get going by outscoring the Patriots 15-10, but still trailed 34-22 at the half.

Oakland maintained the lead with a 46-32 lead after the third quarter.

The Red Raiders would close the gap in the fourth, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Patriots won it, 64-56.

The Red Raiders have yet to win at “The Patch” to start the season.

Scoring for the Red Raiders were Jackson Shemwell with 23 points, Cooper Reed with 19 points, Cayden Trail and Courtland Ferrar with five points each and Brady Wright and Jayden Carter each scored two.

The Lady Raiders will back in action on Friday, Nov. 24 at McMinn Central, Saturday, Nov. 25 at Bradley Central and both Coffee Central basketball teams will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 28 when they play host to Blackman.
