MELTON

Mrs. Karen Kay Kauffman Melton, age 85, passed to her Heavenly home on Jan. 18, 2024. Karen was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma. A longtime resident of Manchester, she met and married the love of her life, Noah Dossett Melton, in 1960 in Elkhart, Indiana. They had two daughters and one granddaughter. She was a devoted wife, mother, and Nanna who always put her family first. She was the fun mom who would take a carful of kids to the movies, swimming, bowling, and once even got her daughters and friends on The Bozo Show. She was the room mother who won the cake contests and made prize-winning homemade costumes, along with handmade teacher gifts with her girls every year. She may have been the craftiest person you would ever meet. She also loved playing games, baking, decorating, connecting with far-flung family and friends on Facebook, sharing the love of Jesus and making people smile. Karen always made everyone feel special, and she touched the lives and hearts of everyone she met. She was a retired Home Interior rep with a huge following of loyal customers, many with whom she remained friends over the years. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Lorma Kauffman; siblings, Merle Kauffman, Berylene Costello, Maxine Secrest, Charlotte Markey, and Melva Mast. Karen is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Noah Dossett Melton; daughters, Jane Melton and Jeanne (Gregg) Ball; granddaughter, Nikki Ball; sister-in-law, Ann Melton, all of Manchester; numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, from 10:00am until 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim McGehee officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 1901 Ovoca Rd., Tullahoma, TN 37388.
