On Friday night, the Coffee Middle Lady Raiders’ bid for a perfect season came to an end in the AAA Section 2 Final.

In the game, the Blackman Flames won decidedly, 50-30.

“It’s on me,” said Coach David Vinson. “We didn’t prepare enough for the press defense that we faced and I take full responsibility for that.”

Scoring for the Lady Raiders in the Section Final were Addalyn Clark with 11 points, Hayleigh Harris with seven points, Isabelle Saner with four points, Kinsley Pruitt with three points, Jenslee Nogodula and Avery Pruitt with two points each and Harper Crosslin with one point.

Despite the loss, the Lady Raiders have had a tremendous season, going 24-1 and winning the CTC Regular Season Championship, the Area 6 Championship and coming within a game of reaching the final four in the state.

“These kids have played hard all year,” said Vinson. “They probably exceeded many people’s expectations, but I knew they were going to be good simply by their work ethic and selfless play. I am very proud of them.”
