Barlow places first at Region Championships

On Saturday, Jacob Barlow placed first in the 150 pound weight class at the Class AA Region 4 Championships.

Barlow won the championship match by beating Blackman’s Isaiah Thephavong on a medical forfeit. 

Barlow was also voted as the Most Outstanding Wrestler for the Tournament as well as being awarded Region 4 wrestler of the year.

Coffee County had several other wrestlers place in their respective divisions.

Blayne Myers placed second in the 285 pound division after losing to Junior Mares of Warren County by a decision.

Austin Green finished third in the 138 pound division, winning the third place match by a decision over Oakland’s Jamaceo King.

Sean Sanders placed fourth in the 120 pound division after losing the third place match by a fall to Blackman’s James Bradford.

Ian Walker finished fourth in the 190 pound division after losing the third place match to PJ Truax of Warren County on a tiebreaker.

Here’s a breakdown of how the rest of Coffee County’s wrestlers finished:

106 pound division: Giddian Mascari lost by a fall in the semifinal of the consolation bracket.

126 pound division: Clayton Centeno lost by a fall in the second round of consolation.

132 pound division: Carlos Valle-Martinez lost by a fall in the semifinal of the consolation bracket.

144 pound division: Eli McLean lost by a decision in the second round of consolation.

157 pound division: Zachary Warrick lost by a fall in the semifinal of the consolation bracket.

165 pound division: Tommy Miller lost by fall in the first round of consolation.

175 pound division: Zander Warrick lost by a fall in the second round of consolation.

215 pound division: Joel Cruz Martinez lost by a decision in the second round of consolation.
