WIGLEY
John Walter Wigley, age 85, of Shelbyville, TN went to be with his heavenly father Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024 after a long battle with kidney failure. He was born June 5, 1938 in Bentonia, MS to the late Walter and Effie (Collins) Wigley. In addition to his parents, John is also preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Evelyn Wigley; stepson, Andy Lee; sister, Hazel Pumphrey; step-brother, Jimmy Powell; step-sisters, Margueritte Serio, Mattie Johnston, Billie Mae Wren, and Faye Lawson; and step-granddaughter, Chasity Lamb. John served his country during Vietnam as a Senior Master Sergeant in the United States Airforce. After his retirement from the Airforce, John worked in Civil Service until his second retirement. He was a member of the Wigley Association and enjoyed coin collecting clubs. John was a family man and enjoyed spending his free time with his loving family. John is survived by his wife of fourteen years, Bettye (Hardrick) Wigley; sons, Johnny William Wigley, David Allan Wigley, and Walter Clifton Wigley; daughter, Priscilla Lynn Wigley; step-daughter, Kathy Stephenson; grandchildren, Kayla Stewart (Josh), Michael Wigley, Matthew Wigley (Crystal), Lisa Miller (Royce), M.J. Wigley, and Amanda Minor; step-grandson, Bo Lamb (Katie); great grandchildren, Noah Wigley, Jacob Wigley, Matthew Wigley, Ryder Miller, Alyrica Wigley, Andrew Minor, Catilyn Minor, Chandlor Minor and Brodie Minor; step great grandchildren, Theo Lamb and Phin Lamb.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his longtime nurse, Connie Stacy.
The family received friends from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9 at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Brother Jimmy Gray, and Brother Tyler Shoemaker officiating. Interment followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors.
