Barlow finishes fourth at State, Jennings places fifth

On Saturday, the TSSAA State Wrestling Tournament came to a close with Coffee County’s wrestlers finishing the season out strong.

After losing in the semifinals of the 150 pound weight class on Friday, Jacob Barlow continued his tournament on Saturday, beating William Schuft of Cleveland in a sudden victory in the consolation semis.

Barlow would face Brentwood’s Clark Vaughn in the State Third Place Match, but Vaughn would win in a very close, 6-5 decision.

Also placing for Coffee County in the State Championships was Ellysia Jennings in the 185 pound division.

Jennings would lose to Cleveland’s Diamond Young by a sudden victory in the consolation semis, putting her in the State Fifth Place Match where she would beat Jehieli Valez-Almodovar of West Creek by a major decision.

Jasmine Norris would also wrestle on Saturday in the second round of the 114 pound consolation bracket, but would lose to Kylie Reeves of Pope John Paul II by a fall.

Blayne Myers and Jade Lenhart were slated to continue in the second round of consolations in their respective weight classes, but both lost in a forfeit.
