Helen Kirby, age 83, of Manchester, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024 at Unity Medical Center. She was born on May 25, 1940 to parents L.D. and Elora Anderson in Manchester. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, LD Anderson and Elora (Arnold) Anderson; brothers, Charles and Thurman Anderson; sister, Jessie Koger; and brother-in-law Horace Simmons. She is survived by her loving sons, David (Valerie) Kirby and Allan Kirby of Manchester; grandchildren, Clay, Samantha, and Evan Kirby, Katherine (Josh) Haun, Kyle (Shelby) Kirby; great grandchildren, Jude, Kate, and Levi Haun; sisters, Geneva (James) Grosch, Mildred (James) Jones, Susie (Wayne) Espy, Elizabeth Simmons, Teresa (Boyd) Duncan; brother, Wayne (Deb) Anderson; sister-in- law, Marjorie Anderson; and brother-in-law, Gerald Koger; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Helen was a faithful member of Farrah Hill Baptist Church. She was known for her 30 years of service as a school bus driver for Coffee County School Systems. Visitation was held at Manchester Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral Services was held on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024 at Manchester Funeral Home at noon. Family accepted guests for the service as early at 11 a.m. Burial took place at Farrah Hill Baptist Cemetery following the funeral services. A special thank you to the staff at Manchester Center for Health and Rehab, especially Lauren and Penny.
