Red Raiders beat Pioneers in district battle

On Monday night, the CCCHS Red Raiders beat Warren County 6-4 on the road after trailing 1-0 through the first three innings.

The Pioneers would strike first, scoring the game’s first run in the bottom of the first inning to lead 1-0. 

For the next two innings, the game was scoreless, then the Red Raiders scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning, with two of those runs being scored by Trey Turner and Brady Daugherty on a Brendon Sheppard ground ball.

Warren County would then score a run in the bottom of the fourth, but Coffee County scored twice in the top of the fifth inning to lead 5-2, before the Pioneers scored again in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 5-3.

Each team would trade runs in the final two innings and the Red Raiders held on to win, 6-4.

Brendon Sheppard had two RBIs on one hit, Brady Daugherty had one RBI on three hits, Bird Fellers had one RBI, Nate Rutledge had three hits and Cole Pippenger, Colter Neel, Trey Turner and Trevor Jesse each had one hit for Coffee County.

Timothy Henderson would get the win on the mound, pitching over six innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out eight batters and walking another three on 101 pitches, and Pippenger would get credit for a save.

The Red Raiders are now at 5-6 on the season and will host Warren County in the second half of the back-to-back on Tuesday, Mar. 26 at 6:30 pm.
