On Thursday night, the Coffee Middle Red Raiders beat Lincoln County 3-1, the Westwood Lady Rockets won 12-0 and tied 3-3 with Liberty in a doubleheader and the Westwood Rockets lost a road contest with Eagleville, 10-0.
CCMS Red Raiders: 3, Lincoln County Falcons: 1
After a scoreless first two innings, the Falcons would strike first in the top of the third inning to lead 1-0, however, the Red Raiders scored twice in the bottom of the third, as Hyatt Moss Scored on a Jaxon Pruitt double and Pruitt scored on a Kanon Creek double to give Coffee County a 2-1 lead.
The score remained that way until the bottom of the sixth inning, as a an Augie Lynch single caused trouble for the Falcon defense, allowing Lynch to advance to third and Mason Floyd to score and give Coffee County a 3-1 lead, which they would keep the rest of the way.
Augie Lynch would finish the game with two hits and an RBI, Jaxon Pruitt and Kanon Creek each had one hit and an RBI and Mason Floyd would have one hit for the Red Raiders.
Lynch would also get the win on the mound, pitching five innings, allowing just one run on three hits, striking out eight batters and walking one on 85 pitches. Pruitt would pitch two innings in relief, allowing two hits, striking out four batters and walking two on 46 pitches.
The Red Raiders will play at Lincoln County in the second half of the two game series on Friday, Apr. 5 at 5:00 pm.
Westwood Lady Rockets: 12, Liberty Lady Patriots: 0
The Westwood Lady Rockets played host to Liberty in a double header and in the first game, Westwood won in dominating fashion.
The Lady Rockets scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning, including a Maddi Scott double that drove in two, a Shaylee Meadows single that scored another two runs and an Emma Morgan double that sent in two more runs as Westwood raced to an early, 8-0 lead.
Westwood scored another four runs in the bottom of the second inning and went on to win 12-0 in a mercy rule.
Shaylee Meadows had two hits and three RBIs, Allison Monahan had two hits and two RBIs, Maddi Scott and Emma Morgan each had one hit and two RBIs and Kylie Evans, Channing Gannon and Addie Teal each had one hit for Westwood.
Scott was again victorious in the circle, allowing no hits and striking out six batters on 30 pitches.
Westwood Lady Rockets: 3, Liberty Lady Patriots: 3
The second game of the double header would prove to be a lot closer than the first game.
Liberty would score three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early, 3-0 lead.
Westwood got on the board in the top of the second inning, as a Kylie Evans grounder sent Addy Wild home to make the score 3-1.
The game would be scoreless for the next two innings, then in the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Rockets scored twice with one run being scored by Evans on a wild pitch and the other being scored on an Addie Teal triple, and the game would end in a 3-3 tie.
Channing Gannon had two hits and Annie Carden, Kylie Evans, Maddi Scott, Addie Teal, and Shaylee Meadows each had one hit for the Lady Rockets.
Carden would have a great outing in the circle, pitching in five innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out 13 batters on 85 pitches.
The Lady Rockets are now 3-2-1 on the season and will play at Cannon County on Friday, Apr. 5 at 5:30 pm.
Westwood Rockets: 0, Eagleville Eagles: 10
The first two innings between Westwood and Eagleville would be close, as the Eagles scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the second inning to lead 1-0.
Eagleville would then erupt for six runs in the third inning to take a commanding 7-0 lead, then go on to win 10-0 in a mercy rule.
Brady Christian would register the lone hit for Westwood and Davion Dycus would get the loss on the mound after pitching three innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and walking four batters on 61 pitches. Christian would pitch 1.2 innings in relief, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out one batter and walking two on 46 pitches.
The Rockets are 7-7 on the season and will look to get back in the win column at Cannon County on Thursday, Apr. 11 at 5:30 pm.
