Lady Raiders defeat Warren for district win

On Friday night, the CCCHS Lady Raiders won in dominating fashion at Warren County, getting their third district win of the season, 12-2.

The Lady Raiders would strike first, as Riley Phillips, pinch-running for Jalyn Moran, scored on a single by Paisley Campbell to give Coffee County a 1-0 lead after the first inning.

Coffee continued to roll as Savannah Cooper drove in two runs with a single to give the Lady Raiders a 3-0 lead in the second inning, then in the third inning, Coffee County erupted for five runs to take a commanding, 8-0 lead.

Warren County would score twice in the bottom of the third inning, but the Lady Raiders drove in another four runs in the top of the fourth inning, taking a 12-2 lead and holding on for the win.

Ella Arnold would have three hits and three RBIs, Savannah Cooper had two hits and four RBIs, Jalyn Moran and Paisley Campbell each had two hits and two RBIs, Chesnie Cox had three hits and one RBI, Channah Gannon had two hits, and Maggie Montgomery, Lily Norman and Kara Wheeler each had one hit for Coffee County.

Norman earned the win in the circle for Coffee County, pitching in all five innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out 12 batters and walking five on 133 pitches.

The Lady Raiders will play host to Shelbyville Central in their next district contest on Saturday, Apr. 13 at 1:00 pm.
