Lady Raiders take down Columbia for district win

On Tuesday night, the CCCHS Lady Raiders collected their fifth district win of the season after beating Columbia Central 9-2 at Terry Floyd Field.
The Lady Raiders would strike first, as Ella Arnold scored on a double by Paisley Campbell to give Coffee County an early 1-0 lead.
Columbia would tie the score at 1-1 in the top of the third inning, but the Lady Raiders answered back as Arnold scored again, this time from a single by Campbell to retake the lead 2-1, then Channah Gannon fired a two-run homer to extend the lead to 4-1.
The Lady Lions would score in the top of the fifth to make the score 4-2, then Coffee County answered in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run by Jalyn Moran to lead 5-2.
Coffee County would score four more times in the bottom of the sixth inning and hold on to win the game 9-2.
Paisley Campbell had four hits and two RBIs, Ella Arnold had two hits and two RBIs, Jalyn Moran and Channah each had a home run with one hit and two RBIs apiece, Kara Wheeler had one RBI, Willow Carden and Chesnie Cox each had two hits and Lily Norman had one hit for the Lady Raiders.
Norman had another fantastic outing in the circle, pitching in all seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits, committing only one error and striking out 10 batters on 106 pitches.
The Lady Raiders are now on a five-game winning streak and will play on the road at Chattanooga Christian on Wednesday, Apr. 17.
