Motlow State Recognizes Student Achievements
S
Motlow State Community College honored students at its annual Student Academic and Leadership Awards Ceremony held at the Moore County campus on April 10,. Students from Moore, Coffee, Franklin, Lincoln, Rutherford, White, Warren, Van Buren, Dekalb, Cannon, and Bedford counties received departmental and honor society awards.
President Michael Torrence opened the ceremony by stating that Student Academic and Leadership Awards Day is one of the most important events Motlow holds as it recognizes the high standard that Motlow students model inside and outside the classroom. He and Dr. Regina Verdin, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, congratulated the students and encouraged them to continue their dedication to excellence in their future endeavors.
Students received awards from the following categories: Departmental, Campus Student of the Year, Honors, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Psi Beta, Student Government Association (SGA), Student Veteran, and President’s Awards. Motlow selects award recipients based on merits such as grade point average (GPA), organizational involvement, and departmental excellence. SGA Vice President and PTK student Jaxen Waggoner also received the Statewide Outstanding Achievement Awards (SOAR) Community College Student of the Year Award at the recent TBR SOAR event.
Motlow is proud that so many students apply themselves inside and outside the classroom to make their communities and the College a better place. These students prioritize academic excellence in their studies and earned their awards through many hours of perseverance.
Motlow will host the 2024 Commencement Ceremony for these graduating students at Middle Tennessee State University on May 6. Visit Motlow.edu/graduation to learn more.
