Red Raiders swept by Lions

On Tuesday, the CCCHS Red Raiders lost their second game of the series to Columbia, 5-2, as the Lions picked up the season sweep of the Red Raiders.
Columbia would set the pace early on, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning to lead 4-0.
The Red Raiders would get on the board in the top of the second inning, as Blake Hillis scored on a wild pitch to make the score 4-1.
Neither team would score in the next two innings, then the Lions would add to their score in the bottom of the fifth inning to go up 5-1.
Coffee County would score in the top of the sixth inning with Cole Pippenger on a Blake Hillis double to make the score 5-2, but the Lions held on for the win.
The Red Raiders would only manage two hits with both of them coming from Hillis.
Davis McKenzie would start the game on the mound, but would get credit for the loss after pitching one inning, allowing four runs on three hits, striking out one batter and walking one on 25 pitches. Brady Daugherty and Cole Pippenger would both pitch in relief.
The Red Raiders are now 12-15-1 on the season, finishing district play with a 4-6 record, and their next game will be at Upperman on Thursday, Apr. 25 at 6:00 pm.
