Special Olympics Annual Event will be May 9 in Tullahoma

Special Olympics Lower Cumberland Area 13 is thrilled to announce its upcoming annual event, showcasing the talents and spirit of athletes from Coffee, Franklin, Bedford, Moore, and Lincoln Counties. The event is scheduled to take place on May 9, 2024, with a rain date set for May 14, 2024, at Wilkins Stadium 1001 N. Jackson St. Tullahoma, TN.

The Special Olympics serves as a beacon of inclusion and empowerment for individuals with intellectual disabilities, providing them with opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience joy through the power of sports.

“We are excited to bring together athletes, families, volunteers, and supporters from across our region to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie,” said Wendy Wilkerson, President of Special Olympics Lower Cumberland Area 13. “This event is a testament to the incredible abilities and determination of our athletes, and we are proud to provide a platform for them to shine.”

Athletes will compete in a variety of events, including track and field, bocce, and softball throwing. The event will not only showcase the athletic prowess of the participants but also promote the values of inclusion, acceptance, and respect for all.
