Red Raiders end season with loss to Spring Hill

On Saturday night, the 2024 season for the CCCHS Red Raiders came to a close after a 5-1 loss to Spring Hill in the 4A District 9 Tournament.
The game was originally slated for a 4:00 pm start on Friday, but after over an inning of play, the game was suspended due to weather.
When play resumed on Saturday, the Red Raiders scored the first run of the game in the top of the second inning, with Blake Hillis scoring on a sacrifice bunt by Bird Fellers to give Coffee County a 1-0 lead.
Spring Hill would tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning, then take the lead in the fourth inning by scoring two runs to go up 3-1.
The host Raiders would score twice in the fifth inning and go on to win the game 5-1, outhitting Coffee County 4-3.
For the Red Raiders, Cole Pippenger had two hits, Trevor Jesse had one hit and Bird Fellers had one RBI.
Pippenger would get credit for the loss on the mound, pitching four innings, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out four batters and walking two on 64 pitches. Timothy Henderson and Brady Daugherty each pitched an inning in relief.
With the loss, the Red Raiders end the 2024 baseball season with a 14-17-1 record, placing fifth in the 4A District 9 regular season standings with a 4-6 record in district play.
Coffee County had four players selected to the All-District Team, with Nate Rutledge, Colter Neel, Cole Pippenger and Blake Hillis all being named.
