On Wednesday night, the Coffee Middle Lady Raiders picked up a two set victory over Harris while the Westwood Lady Rockets won on the road at Cascade in three sets.

The Lady Raiders moved to 3-0 on the season with a home win against the Harris Eaglettes.

Coffee County wasted no time in the first set, rolling to a decisive, 25-16 win.

The second set was more of the same for the Lady Raiders, who raced out to an 8-0 lead before going on to win 25-14 and take a 2-0 win in the match.

However, the junior varsity squad wasn’t quite as fortunate. The JV Lady Raiders won the first set, but the JV Eaglettes took the second set 25-20 to force a third set. The JV squad of Harris would win a thrilling third set by a score of 16-14 and take the match 2-1.

The Coffee Middle Lady Raiders will travel to Warren County tomorrow, Aug. 15 with JV action starting at 5 p.m.

Westwood Lady Rockets

The Westwood Lady Rockets picked up their first win of the season with a scrappy effort at Cascade.

Westwood took the first set by a score of 25-20, but the host Champions would draw even with a 25-20 victory of their own in the second set.

The Lady Rockets had been serving the ball well all night, and in the third set Westwood prevailed 15-13 to take a hard-earned, 2-1 victory.

Westwood’s JV squad also picked up a win, dominating the first set with a 25-5 victory and finishing things off with a 25-22 win in the second set.

Westwood will be back at home tomorrow to take on Cannon County with the JV playing first at 5 p.m.
