Red Raider golf sweeps District Tourney

On Monday, the Coffee County golf team made a clean sweep of the AA District 8 Tournament, placing first as a team in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions at Lawrenceburg Golf and Country Club.
Jack Stowe led the Red Raiders and all other golfers with a score of 68, Noah Costello carded the fourth best score of the tournament with a 72, Jaxon Phillips scored an 83 and Levi Rossman turned in an 86 to give Coffee County a team score of 309. Landon Collins managed an 89 in individual scoring for Coffee County.
The Red Raiders beat host Lawrence County by one stroke as the Wildcats put up a team score of 310 with their best individual efforts coming from Hud Mattox, who had the second best score of the tournament with a 70, and Dalton McCawley, who carded the third best individual score of 71.
Tullahoma placed third in the tournament with a team score of 323.
In the girls’ competition, Leah Kate Sullivan scored an 83 and Karsyn Riddle turned in a 124 to give the Lady Raiders a team score of 207, which was good enough to place first.
Lincoln County came in second with a team score of 259.
Sullivan’s 83 was the second best individual mark of the tournament, as Marshall County’s Nellie Neece put up a score of 81 to place first.
Coffee County will travel to Crossville next Monday, Sept. 30 to take part in the AA Region 4 Tournament, which will take place at Bear Trace-Cumberland Mountain.
