Lady Raiders fall in Area Finals

On Saturday, the Coffee Middle Lady Raiders beat Warren County to make it to the 2A Area 6 Finals, but then lost the Championship match to EO Coffman.

In their semifinal match against Warren, the Lady Raiders picked up a hard-earned 2-1 victory.

Coffee County would jump ahead 5-0 at the start, then Warren County battled back to take the lead 7-6. The Lady Raiders would edge ahead 14-13, then go on to win the set 25-19.

The Lady Raiders would take a 7-2 lead to start the second set, but the Lady Pioneers would come back to tie the score at 16-16 and go on to win 25-22 to tie the match at one set apiece.

Coffee County would dominate the third set, winning 15-5 to advance to the Area 6 Championship, where they awaited the winner between EO Coffman and Whitthorne.

The Lady Panthers would dispatch Whitthorne 2-0, and meet Coffee County in the finals.

Coffee County would score four unanswered points to start the first set, but the Lady Panthers made it a battle, tying the score at 7-7 and 12-12 at different points before running away with the set 25-15.

In the second set, Coffman would be the ones to start off with a 4-0 run, and even though Coffee County battled hard to tie the score at 19-19, the Lady Panthers finished things off to win 25-20 and take the match 2-0.

The Lady Raiders will continue postseason play in the Section 3 Tournament at Rockvale on Tuesday, Oct. 1 in a double elimination tournament.
