Westwood sweeps past Liberty

On Monday night, the Westwood Lady Rockets dominated on defense in a 36-5 win while the Rockets out-dueled the Patriots 52-35 at Liberty School in Shelbyville.

Westwood’s defense fueled themselves to a good start, as the Lady Rockets outscored Liberty 7-3 in the first quarter.

The Lady Rockets continued to roll in the second quarter, scoring nine points while allowing only two to the Lady Patriots to take a 16-5 lead into halftime. 

Westwood’s tenacious defense continued after the halftime break, shutting out the Lady Patriots 20-0 in the second half to cruise to a 36-5 win.

With the win, the Lady Rockets improve their season record to 4-1.

Westwood Rockets

The Rockets launched to a big lead in the opening quarter, outscoring the Patriots 19-6.

Liberty would have the edge in the second quarter, outscoring Westwood 9-8, but the Rockets remained ahead 27-15 entering the halftime break. 

Westwood added to their lead in the third, outscoring the Patriots 10-6 to lead 37-21 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Rockets would outscore the Patriots 15-14 in the fourth and cruise to a 52-35 win.
