CCMS leaves Winchester with another conference sweep

On Monday night, the Coffee Middle Lady Raiders extended their season-opening winning streak to seven while the Red Raiders dominated defensively on the road at North Franklin.

Lady Raiders

The North Franklin Gatorettes kept it close in the first two quarters, but the Lady Raiders still had the edge at halftime, 25-18.

Coffee County would distance themselves further from their opponent in the second half, outscoring the Gatorettes 15-10 to capture their seventh straight victory, 40-28.

“It was a hard fought conference win,” said Coach David Vinson. “North played very well and it was a physical game on both sides of the floor. We usually don’t play our best that way, but sometimes, you just have to fight back.”

Box Score: CCMS Lady Raiders (40) Harper Crosslin 13, Jenslee Nogodula 12, Avery Pruitt 8, Brylyn McAdams 4, Kinsley Pruitt 3.

Red Raiders

The Coffee Middle Red Raiders seemed to bolt a lid on the opponent’s basket in their matchup with the Gators, figuratively speaking of course.

Coffee County didn’t surrender a single point in the first quarter, then only allowed two in the second quarter to rack up a 23-2 lead at the half.

The Gators would score six points in the second half, but the Red Raiders exploded for 19 points in the third quarter and added another 10 in the fourth, sailing to a 52-8 win and improving their season record to 6-1.

Box Score: CCMS Red Raiders (52) Jaxon Pruitt 14, Joe Jordan 12, Rylan Abellana 10, Kanon Creek 8, Ethan Arnold 4, Hyatt Moss 2, Kaden Spencer 2.

North Gators (8) Ty Worley 5, Grant Parkerson 3.

Both Coffee County Middle basketball teams will face Westwood in a rematch of the cross-town rivalry on Tuesday, Nov. 12 with varsity action starting at 6 p.m. at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium.
