On Thursday, Nov. 14, Jefferson’s of Manchester announced that Andrew Taylor, Head Coach of CCHS Red Raider basketball and Lady Raider volleyball, was named Manchester Coach of the Year.

Jefferson’s of Manchester is pleased to announce that Andrew Taylor has been named Jefferson’s Manchester Coach of the Year. Taylor coaches basketball and volleyball at Coffee County High School, where he has been for almost 30 years.

Coach Taylor was chosen from a highly competitive pool of nominations submitted by athletes and community members. The contest, launched in honor of National Coach’s Day on Oct. 6, aims to recognize one of Manchester’s many deserving coaches. Jefferson’s selected Taylor as the Manchester Coach of the Year for his compassionate leadership and his prioritization of character development over winning.

“Coach Taylor’s nominators wrote of how he cares for his players as his own,” said Sean McCooey, President of Double Dip Franchise Group. “He builds lifelong relationships with his athletes, attending school players, weddings, and funerals. He’ll drive players to practice or pay for food to make sure none of his students go without. We’re honored to recognize Coach Taylor for his decades of service to his community.”

Taylor will receive a $500 gift card to Jefferson’s. His achievement will also be commemorated with a “Jefferson’s Coach of the Year” plaque for all restaurant patrons to see.

“It has been a blessing for me to get to coach in Coffee County,” Taylor said in a statement. “I started coaching in the Rusty Melvin Saturday Morning League as a sophomore in high school and fell in love with it. Over the years I have gotten to work with some really exceptional young people.”

The Jefferson’s Manchester Coach of the Year award was open to coaches of any sport working with athletes of any age. Coaches could be nominated by athletes, parents and guardians of athletes, school officials, or other community members. Read the original Manchester contest announcement here.
