Westwood basketball collected a home sweep against Forrest in a battle of the Rockets on Thursday night at Joel Vinson Gymnasium.

After suffering back-to-back losses to Eagleville and Coffee County on Monday and Tuesday, the Lady Rockets got back in the win column with a 42-26 win over Forrest.

Zallona Dillard led the way for Westwood with 16 points while Jerzee Ferrell dropped 14.

Westwood improves to an 8-4 overall record with a 5-1 record in DRVC play. With Community’s win over Eagleville, the Lady Rockets assume the first place spot in the DRVC standings.

The Rockets also ended a two-game skid with a dominant win over Forrest.

After outscoring Forrest 26-15 in the first half, Westwood exploded for a 20-point third quarter to build up a 46-21 lead heading into the fourth.

Forrest would try and chip away at the score by outscoring Westwood 15-8 in the fourth quarter, but Westwood held on for their sixth win of the year, 54-36

The win moves Westwood to 6-6 on the season with a 4-2 record in DRVC play.
