On Monday night, the Westwood Lady Rockets defeated Forrest 25-19 and the Rockets came back from a seven-point third quarter deficit to beat the Community Vikings 39-33 in overtime in the first round of the DRVC Tournament at Forrest School.

Westwood Lady Rockets: 25, Forrest Lady Rockets: 19

The Westwood Lady Rockets flew out to a great start in their first round matchup with Forrest, outscoring their opponent 12-2 in the first quarter of play.

From there, things slowed down a bit on offense with Forrest outscoring Westwood 17-13 over the final three quarters combined, but Westwood held on for the first round victory, 25-19.

The Vikings had the edge in the first half, outscoring Westwood 8-7 in the first quarter and 11-7 in the second for a halftime lead of 19-14.

Community continued to control the game in the third, outscoring Westwood 9-7 for a 28-21 lead heading into the fourth.

The Rockets would outscore the Vikings 11-4 in the fourth quarter with the help of eight points from Isaiah Buchanan, tying the score at 32-32 and sending the game into overtime.

Westwood seized the opportunity in the extra minutes, holding the Vikings to just a single point and winning the game, 39-33.

Both Westwood teams will advance to the DRVC Semi Finals on Tuesday, Dec. 10 with the Lady Rockets taking on the #1 seed Cascade Lady Champions at 4 p.m. and the Rockets playing against the #2 seed Cascade Champions at 7:15 p.m. All games in the tournament are held at Forrest School.
