Shirley Diane Banks, age 69, of Beechgrove, passed this life Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024.  She was born May 8, 1955 in Manchester to the late Howard Glen and Clara Ruth (Farless) Farless. In addition to her parents, Shirley is also preceded in death by her significant other, William “Bill” Carden; granddaughter, Serenity Short; and brothers, Donnie and Danny Ray Farless. Shirley was a self-proclaimed “Country Girl”, enjoying gardening, canning, and pickling okra. She also loved to cook; fried chicken and cherry cheese pie were her signature dishes. Shirley is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Short (Elizabeth) and Terry Banks; grandchildren, Christian Faith Banks, Destiny Pham (Mike), Chance Gipson (Krislynn), Layla Bundy, Tristan Short, Mackenzie Short, and Eliza Short; six great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Farless (Betty); her first husband, Mack Edward Banks; and special family, Lynda and Cantrell Carden, David and Susan Ferrell, Billy Bob Carden (Rachel), and Roseanne and Nick Smith. A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Manchester Funeral Home with Pastor Byron Ash officiating. The family received friends from 2 – 4 p.m.
