HILL

Robert Lawson Hill, age 80 of Pelham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at his residence. Robert was born on June 23, 1944, in Franklin County, to the late Hugh Lawson and Edna (Watson) Hill. He had a lifelong career with Carrier as a machinist and had a journeyman’s card in tool and die.   Robert was an avid outdoor enthusiast who loved being in the mountains riding four wheelers and hunting or you could find him on the lake fishing.  Spending quality time with his family, he treasured the most. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by James Hill, Clata Taylor, Virginia Param, John Hill, Elsie Clark, Christine Robinson, Velma Johnson, Sadie Walker, Ray Hill, Wilma Gifford, Leonard “Buck” Hill, Thomas Hill and five infant siblings.  Robert is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Sondra Lee Hill; children, Robert “Bobby” Hill Jr, Mary Elizabeth Hill and Marcus Hill; grandchildren, Kaylynn Hill and Joshua (Danielle) Hill; great-grandchild Maverick Hill; sister, Lena Mae Boswell; and many nieces and nephews.  Visitation was on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service was held on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment followed in Paynes Cove Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
