Lindsay and McLean place first in Regionals, four Raiders qualify for Sectionals

On Saturday, Feb. 8, Coffee County had four wrestlers place in the AA Region 4 Tournament at Warren County High School, with Aiden Lindsay and Eli McLean each placing first in their respective divisions while William Barlow and Joel Cruz-Martinez also placed high enough to qualify for the Sectional Tournament.

Lindsay, wrestling in the 126-pound division, placed first after defeating Dylan Frazier of Oakland by a sudden victory in the first place match.

McLean also took top honors in the 150-pound division with a win by a fall over Patrick Richardson of Stewarts Creek.

With their victories, Lindsay and McLean will each advance to the TSSAA Class AA Section 2 Tournament.

Coffee County had two other wrestlers qualify for Sectionals; William Barlow and Joel Cruz-Martinez.

Barlow placed fourth in the 144-pound division after losing the third place match to Andre Ourk of Oakland in a 15-2 major decision and Martinez placed fourth in the 215-pound division with a loss by sudden victory to Siegel’s Joshua Miller.

Coffee County will have a total of four representatives in the Class AA Section 2 Tournament, which will take place on Saturday, Feb. 15 at McMinn County High School.

138 – Carlos Valle-Martinez lost to Aiden Roberts (Siegel) (Dec 13-10) in Consolation Round 3

157 – Emmanuel Rodriguez lost to Kameron Smith (Siegel) (Fall) in Consolation Semifinals

165 – Tommy Miller lost to Diego Mancilla (LaVergne) (Fall) in Consolation Round 3

175 – Zander Warrick lost to Hayden Watts (Warren) (Dec 4-0) in Consolation Semifinals

285 – Tanner Vernon lost to Steven Nelson (Rockvale) (Fall) in Consolation Round 3
