Manchester City Schools Director of Schools Dr. Joey Vaugh’s contract was extended during the Feb. 3 Manchester Board of Education meeting until June 30, 2029.
“I’ll stay here as long as you’ll have me,” Vaughn told the board during a prior meeting involving the contract.
The new contract, which will officially begin July 1, 2025, was amended during the Jan. 13 meeting to increase Vaughn’s salary from the 2023 salary of $132, 964 to $145,000. The motion to amend the contract was made by Chairman Travis Hillis. Hillis also suggested additional vacation days to go from 8 to 12 based on years of service and a change in the maximum annuity match to $300 per month.
The amendments passed unanimously on Jan. 13 and the contract discussion was tabled until February, so that Board Attorney Chuck Cagle could draw up the contract with the changes listed.
The contract passed 4-0 with Hillis absent during the Feb. 3 meeting.
