On Friday night, the No. 2 ranked Coffee County Lady Raiders continued their postseason run with a 73-33 win over the Franklin Lady Admirals in the 4A Region 5 Quarterfinals at Joe Frank “Patch” Memorial Gymnasium.

Fresh off of their District 9 Tournament Championship win four days earlier, the Lady Raiders went to work immediately, going on a 22-0 scoring run and holding Franklin scoreless in the first seven minutes before leaving the first quarter with a 27-5 lead. Coffee County would be paced by senior Channah Gannon and sophomore Jules Ferrell in the early going, with the two of them combining for 19 of the Lady Raiders’ 27 first quarter points.

Franklin’s defense would be a little tighter in the second quarter, limiting Coffee County to 12 points, but the Lady Raiders still took a sizable 39-14 lead into the halftime break.

The Lady Admirals could never seem to match the torrent pace set by the Lady Raiders, and Coffee County outscored Franklin 34-19 over the final two quarters for a 73-33 win. Junior Natalie Barnes scored 12 of her 17 game points in the second half.

With the victory, the Lady Raiders advance to the Region Semifinals where they will face the Page Patriots, who finished runners-up in the District 10 Tournament and defeated Shelbyville in the Region Quarterfinals 64-46.

In the other two Region Quarterfinal games, District 10 Champions Brentwood defeated Warren County 65-48 and Lincoln County slipped past Nolensville 48-45.

The 4A Region 5 Semifinals will take place in Manchester on Monday, March 3 with Coffee County taking on Page at 6 p.m. with Brentwood and Lincoln County to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Coffee county must win to stay alive in the postseason.
