Shots fired after police attempt to serve warrant

One man is dead after the Tullahoma Police Department attempted to a serve a warrant.
According to District Attorney General Craig Northcott, members of the Tullahoma Police Department attempted to serve an active warrant for Thomas Hackworth, 58, at his place of employment on West Lincoln Street on Thursday evening. Per Northcott, Hackworth had a warrant out from Michigan for sexual assault on a minor.
Northcott told The News that when lawmen arrived, gunshots occurred and when the officers made entry, they found Hackworth deceased with what was an apparent gunshot wound through the roof of his mouth.
An investigation is underway at this time with the DA’s office and Tullahoma Police Department. There is no further information at this time.
