SCOTT
Clyde Willard Scott, age 88, a revered veteran and cherished community member of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on April 2, 2025. Born on August 29, 1936, in Sunbright, Tennessee, Clyde dedicated four years to serving in the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his lifelong patriotism and discipline. After his honorable discharge, Clyde briefly worked as an instrument technician for General Dynamics in Texas before returning to Tennessee, where he embarked on a significant career as a computer technician at Arnold Engineering Development Center. His professional life was marked by a meticulous attention to detail and a profound understanding of technology, which he generously shared with his colleagues. Clyde’s passions extended beyond his professional endeavors. He was an avid outdoorsman with a deep appreciation for fishing, woodworking, and ginseng hunting. His love for wildlife and pets of all kinds enriched his life and those around him, bringing joy and a sense of wonder to his family and friends. He also had a deep passion for bluegrass music and honey buns. Clyde was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geneva Scott, his half-sister Georgie Wilson, and his parents, Clyde Scott Sr. and Minnie Scott. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family, including his sister, Wanda Diden of Sunbright, TN; his son, R Wayne Scott (Janice McCollum) of Tullahoma, TN; his daughter, Belinda Nicholson (Dean Nicholson) of Tullahoma, TN; grandchildren Justin Scott (Ashley Scott), Jamie Jernigan (Charlie Jernigan), Ciara Maxwell (Justin Maxwell), and Ashley Elrod (Dusty Elrod); his cherished great-grandchildren Isla, Ava, Lilly, Lane, Cooper, Colt, and Aiden: as well as special friends Pete French, Barbara Zeigler, and Glen Aussiker. Visitation for family and friends was held on Friday, April 4, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Central Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m. with Clyde to be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Geneva, at Fredonia Cemetery. Clyde’s life and service will be honored in the presence of those he loved and served, reflecting a life well-lived and profoundly impactful.
